” This photo is from an island in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, which is on the east side of Auckland, New Zealand. It was taken on Rakino Island, which is only accessible by ferry. The Hauraki Gulf has dozens if not hundreds of islands and most of them can be quickly reached by ferry from Auckland. Patti and I spent months in the Hauraki Gulf, moving from island to island. But Waiheke is the largest and best known – yet not heavily populated. You could spend weeks there walking without ever being bored. Most of the islands are reached by ferry from Auckland.”
