Bike Paths Loire

Bike paths  Loire – paths along the Loire River provide a great way to see chateaux and abbeys in France. Taking a bicycle tour is a relaxing way to spend the day. These paths on the Loire River are designated as the EuroVelo bicycle route.

This path is part of the European cycle route network that is a project of the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF). Euro Velo 6 (Eurovelo6) begins in Nantes, France at the Atlantic Ocean and goes all the way to Budapest and the Black Sea. The map below (when viewed on the Loire site) shows which parts of the path are shared with cars and which are car-free. As you zoom in, you can also check features that allow you to see locations of accommodations, restaurants, activities and more.

Enjoy 800 km of cycle paths as this route crosses the Loire Valley. Bicycles, tandems, child trailers and luggage, saddlebags and helmets can be rented at numerous bike rentals along the route. Locks, pumps and repair kits are usually included. Some rental locations will even transfer your luggage to your hotel. There are also canoe rentals at some of the locations.

I highly recommend the Loire à Velo site which can be viewed in French, English, Dutch and German.
